Double-Layer and Faux-Two-Piece Shirts: Quote the Structure Before the Price

Double-layer and faux-two-piece shirts may both show inner and outer layers, but their panels, fabrics and joining routes differ. Confirm the structure before comparing price.

Different construction needs different quotation inputs.

Double-layer and faux-two-piece shirts can look similar in a photo, but layer coverage, fabric combinations and joining methods change the pattern and sewing brief. Confirm the construction before comparing totals.

What do the sample records illustrate?

Mingsheng's internal sample records include one double-layer jacket-style shirt with two pocket flaps and a back yoke. Its fields record a 100% cotton outer layer and an 80% polyester/20% cotton inner layer. Another record describes an inner knitted faux-two-piece construction with a 100% polyester outer layer and a 64% cotton/36% polyester inner layer. These are two different styles, not a fixed double-layer standard.

What should the quotation brief separate?

Area Double-layer questions Faux-two-piece questions
Coverage Full garment, partial layer or lining only Which inner section is visible and attached?
Fabric Composition, weight, color and width of each layer Structure, stretch and color of outer and inner sections
Joining Yoke, sleeve, collar and hem connection Attachment points, reveal width and movement
Pockets Two pocket flaps, pocket bag and material Outer or inner visual layer?
Workmanship Layer pressing, seam allowance, binding and topstitch Woven/knit transition and stretch control

Why not infer price from the name?

Material usage, panel count, sewing difficulty, trims and order quantity all affect price. Two styles called “faux two-piece” can still differ because one uses a full knitted inner body and another uses a partial attached section. A sample record helps the buyer ask the right question; it does not establish a fixed surcharge.

How to submit a comparable brief

Send front/back views, inside and outside close-ups, a construction sketch, composition and weight, colors, quantity, size ratio, pocket and yoke requirements. If a knit layer is involved, add stretch direction, shrinkage and the measurement points at the join.

At sample approval, photograph or record the outer layer, inner layer, joining range, pocket, collar and hem separately. Use the same construction record when the first bulk piece is inspected.

Mingsheng supports woven-shirt OEM/ODM and sample-based development. A specific double-layer or faux-two-piece project still depends on materials, construction, quantity and delivery requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are double-layer and faux-two-piece shirts the same?

No. A double-layer design may use full or partial inner and outer layers, while a faux-two-piece design may create a layered appearance through an attached inner section. The panels decide the route.

Can a front image support a quotation?

It can support an initial view only. Confirm layer coverage, fabric, joining points, pocket, yoke, lining and measurement information.

Which structure is always more expensive?

There is no universal answer. Fabric, panel count, workmanship, trims, quantity and scheduling all affect the quotation.
